LEE COUNTY, Fla. — World Aids Day 2018 is on Saturday, Dec. 1. The 2018 theme is 'Know Your Status'.

The campaign aims to show support for those living with HIV and gives people a chance to remember those killed by aids-related illnesses.

More than 30,000,000 people are living with HIV, but only about 40% of them know they have the disease.

To check your status, find a testing place here.

The Florida Department of Health in Lee County is celebrating World Aids Day with a community event.

The local theme is 'Rethink HIV, Play Your Part, Take a Stand'.

Free HIV testing and other health screenings will be available at the event. The event will also provide family entertainment, a basketball shootout, food trucks, and door prizes.

It will be on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Robert Clemente Park on Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. in Fort Myers, Fla.
