Woman arrested on multiple charges after hit and run in Cape Coral

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — On July 8th, 2019 Cape Coral Police responded to a hit and run crash in front of Cape Coral Hospital.

Witnesses observed a white Chrysler SUV had rear-ended another vehicle at high speed, then fled southbound.

The Chrysler then attempted to turn into the Del Prado Mall located at Del Prado Boulevard South.

It failed to negotiate the turn, losing control and crashing into the marquee sign at the parking lot entrance.

Witnesses then saw Nhaima Rivera, 35 flee the vehicle and run.

Rivera ran into traffic, resisted arrest and officers had to use a taser.

Police found she had 12 prior suspensions and had a 60-month habitual offender status.

Rivera was arrested and charged with 2 counts of DUI, 7 counts of DUI property damage, 3 counts of hit and run property damage, 1 count of hit and run with bodily injury, 1 count of resisting an officer without violence, and 2 counts of driving on a suspended license.

Rivera was transported to the Lee County Jail.
