COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- An Immokalee woman is facing a child neglect charge after deputies say she overdosed in a convenience store bathroom while her kids waited alone outside.
35-year-old Jeria Brown was arrested Thursday in Naples.
According to a Collier County Sheriff's Office report, deputies had to use Narcon to revive her inside the Racetrac on Collier Boulevard at Rattlesnake Hammock. An employee found her passed out in the women's bathroom surrounded by numerous needles and baggies of white powder.
Surveillance video showed Brown and her boyfriend entered separate bathrooms at the same time, leaving two children alone in their vehicle. They both remained in the bathrooms for 23 minutes before the clerk found Brown.
Responding deputies and EMS used CPR and Narcan to revive Brown, who was taken to the hospital a block away.
The report states that while waiting for DCF's arrival, Brown left the hospital against doctor's wishes, and walked back to the Racetrac, where she sped off in the vehicle with the kids. Deputies were able to quickly pull her over and place her under arrest.
She has been charged with Child Neglect and Obstruction of an Officer.
