CAPE CORAL, Fla. - A woman spotted near the scene of a burglary who ran from police has been arrested for loitering and prowling with a burglary investigation ongoing.
Police responded to the 1300 block of NW 3rd Terrace Sunday night for a report of a suspicious person. The caller said her home had been burglarized and she saw a person walking through her backyard, Cape Coral Police said.
Officers located the woman - identified as Alexandra Carter - after she allegedly ran from police and hid behind the water system of a home.
Carter's vehicle was located, and police said they saw several items appearing to be from prior burglaries in the vehicle. The investigation into those items is ongoing.
Carter was arrested for loitering and prowling and taken to Lee County Jail.
