NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Most years, it's routine. Members of our station staff fan out across local schools to read to the kids as part of "Read Across America Day."
But, because of the pandemic, things were different this year.
Social distancing rules don't quite allow for an adult to settle into a rocking chair have the kids gather 'round close to listen.
But teachers have found a way to adapt.
Courtney Staley, K-2 Literacy Coach at North Fort Myers Academy for the Arts, invited Patrick Nolan to read via zoom.
He may have been a little over-prepared - checking out 11 children's books from the Cape Coral Library to bring to the Zoom session.
The kids in Liz Spreckelmeier's class got to hear three of them in the time allowed.
