Water shut off to Cape Coral homes and businesses due to water main break

**UPDATE (12:45PM)** -- The city of Cape Coral says water service in this area has been restored.

CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Water service has been knocked out to a section of Northwest Cape Coral when a water main was damaged by construction crews.

The break happened in the 300 block of Chiquita Boulevard South, and has affected nearby schools, businesses, and homes.

This includes the Publix shopping center at Burnt Store Road and Pine Island Road, Mariner Middle and High schools, Lee County Public Library, Jim Jeffers Park, and Blue Water Coach homes.

Water is expected to be off up to four hours.

Customers should receive an automated notification due to this service interruption.
