LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Dozens of businesses are without service due to a water main break along Tamiami Trail in South Fort Myers.

It happened around 6:25 a.m. Tuesday in the southbound lanes of Tamiami Trail just south of Youngquist Road, at the entrance to Horizon Plaza.

According to a Lee County spokesperson, about 15 businesses are temporarily without access due to their entrance being blocked. About 50 commercial customers are without water service, but no residences are affected.

A garbage truck was partially sunk into the sinkhole created by the water main break, but it has been safely removed.

Crews are repairing the site, and are expected to be done by 5 p.m.

All southbound lanes of Tamiami Trial are open in the area.
