CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Cell phone video shows a brutal beat down that took place last Friday at Island Coast High School.
In the video, you can see a Cape Coral student punched in the face repeatedly.
The girl's mother tells 4 In Your Corner the video was sickening to see. "The girl drove by and saw my daughter in the car, stopped, the windows were down, punched her in the face, proceeded to open the car door and dragged my daughter out by her hair," said Sabrina Schmaltz, the girl's mother.
A school resource officer eventually broke up the fight, but not until after her daughter was hurt so severely, she was rushed to the emergency room.
Since Friday, Schmaltz says the video has been shared on social media platforms including Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram.
"My son came home and said mom, there's a website on Instagram called Cape Fight Club and sissy's on it," Schmaltz said.
When 4 In Your Corner searched Instagram, we found several pages under the keyword 'Cape Fights' that solicit people to upload fight videos for shoutouts or to be approved to follow the page.
"Nothing is strange to the internet," said Corporal Phil Mullen with Cape Coral Police Department.
"I would tell folks like this that are going to post crimes that they're going to be found out."
Schmaltz says this isn't the first time the two girls have had conflict and claims the school should have done more to prevent it from happening.
"I thought they did a good job protecting my kids, but I'm assuming they haven't now. They actually let me down," Schmaltz said.
A spokesperson told 4 In Your Corner the student was disciplined after the incident per the Student Code of Conduct.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office says it's actively investigating.
