FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Vice President Mike Pence will be making his way to Southwest Florida today, and it’s more than just a stopover.
The Vice President will be landing at RSW around 2-45 this afternoon, then will spend all of next week in the Sanibel area before leaving on Friday, April 6th.
Because of the visit, there will be flight restrictions around RSW Today and on April 6th, and restrictions around Sanibel in-between.
According to the FAA, No pilots may operate an aircraft in those areas while those restrictions are in place.
However, commercial flights will still be able to take off and land during this time.
Law enforcement, firefighting, and medical flights are also allowed to fly through the restricted airspace as well.
The Vice President and his family vacationed on the island last year as well.
