LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Local volunteers and the City of Bonita Springs worked together this weekend to help clear trash and debris from a Southwest Florida waterway.

According to CGT Kayaks, on Sunday volunteers hit the water on the Imperial River in kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and boats to collect the trash.

Styrofoam and storm debris were among items removed from the water.

The trash was then removed by City of Bonita Springs workers.
