Unlocked vehicles targeted in Punta Gorda Isles overnight

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- Investigators are looking into several cases of vehicle burglaries and one vehicle theft in the Punta Gorda Isles community.

According to Punta Gorda Police, early Thursday morning, officers located a pickup truck behind the Bal Harbor Plaza that was listed as stolen out of Estero. Later in the morning, several reports of vehicle burglaries and one stolen SUV started coming in from the area around Ryan Boulevard.

The stolen SUV was a white 2018 Volkswagen SUV that was last seen on I-75 near Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.

All the burglaries and the theft were on unlocked vehicles with no forced entry. Only small items and loose change were taken in the burglaries.
