LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — Two teenagers have been arrested for murder after an exchange for an online item went wrong in Lehigh Acres on Saturday, leaving one teenager dead and one adult injured by gunfire.
14-year-old J'Martin Hixon died in the incident.
Lee County deputies responded to a shooting around 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of Cedartree Avenue and Centennial Boulevard.
Upon arrival, deputies found an adult male victim suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound, and he was transported to the hospital, deputies said.
During further investigation, detectives learned that the victim had arranged to meet the buyer of an item posted online. The victim met with two males and during the exchange, one of the males shot the victim. The victim shot back, hitting one of the males.
Deputies searched the area and located Hixon dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.
Two teens, ages 15 and 16, were located and arrested in connection to the incident. They are charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Robbery with Firearm, and Murder While Engaged in Certain Felony Offense.
This is an ongoing investigation.
