CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Troopers say two people were injured, including a Cape Coral Police officer, in a crash on Del Prado Boulevard Monday night.

Video courtesy viewer Chris Specht showed the aftermath of the crash.

It happened at 8:25 p.m. on Del Prado Boulevard South near Coral Point Drive.

Troopers say a northbound car attempted to turn left into a parking lot and drove into the path of a southbound SUV, a marked Cape Coral Police patrol vehicle.

The SUV hit the right side of the car, which then collided with a small palm tree. The tree toppled onto an unoccupied parked car in the parking lot.

The officer driving the SUV, 35-year-old Andrew O’Hern, sustained a minor injury, and was treated at Lee Memorial Hospital.

The car’s driver, 37-year-old Anna Balester of Cape Coral, was critically injured and taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.

Charges are pending further investigation.
