COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- Two people were killed and three others were injured in a single-vehicle crash in rural Collier County on New Year's Eve.

The crash happened at 10:22 p.m. on County Line Road.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Lincoln SUV was headed southbound on County Line Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at Oil Well Road. The SUV went off the roadway and struck a dirt embankment.

27-year-old passenger Edwin Jimenez of Immokalee was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, 26-year-old Alfredo Gomez, died at Lee Memorial Hospital.

The other three people in the SUV all sustained serious injuries and were taken to local hospitals. They include the driver, 22-year-old Danielle Lopez, as well as 37-year-old Sebastian Jimenez and 41-year-old Romeo Lopez.

Troopers say alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and all were wearing seat belts at the time.

The driver is being charged with Driving with No License Causing Death, and Disregarding Stop Sign.
