Two accused of fleeing police in a stolen car in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Police took two men into custody Wednesday night after officers say the men fled in a stolen vehicle.

According to Fort Myers Police, patrol officers near Gardenia Avenue and Michigan Avenue recognized a vehicle that was reported stolen. When they began to follow it, the driver sped away.

The car was later found abandoned at the dead end of B Street and Maryland Avenue. The two suspects were found behind a house nearby.

20-year-old Pierre Dabney is charged with loitering, resisting officer, and possession of burglary tools. The keys to the stolen car were found in his pocket.

Also arrested was 18-year-old Desmond Belmer on unknown charges.
