Travel tips for Thanksgiving

Southwest Florida International Airport is about to be flooded with holiday travelers.

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel days of the year. Some fliers already had to deal with flight cancellations.

"I got a notification that my flight was cancelled," said Brenda Horwitz, who flew in from Philadelphia. "Instead of going direct from Philadelphia to here, I was being rerouted to Denver and had to stay the whole day and take a red eye to arrive Thanksgiving morning," she added.

RSW recommends would be fliers to arrive at the airport two hours before their flight. They also suggest you arrive three hours if you have an international flight.

If you have a pet, it has to be properly kenneled.

Some travelers chose to take their flights on Tuesday in order to avoid what they expect to be a crazy day.

"It's a lot easier because tomorrow is mayday at all the airports," said one man flying in from New Jersey. "I decided to beat the crowds and fly today," he added.
