BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. -- A New York man was killed Monday when an SUV crashed onto the sidewalk in Bonita Springs, striking the man riding a bicycle on the sidewalk.
65-year-old Robert Miniger of Warwick, New York was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Florida highway Patrol, a pickup truck and an SUV were traveling eastbound on Bonita Beach Road west of Imperial Shores Boulevard when the SUV changed lanes from the left lane to the right lane and hit the truck. The collision caused the SUV to rotate and travel over the south curb of Bonita Beach Road.
That's where the SUV hit Miniger and a tree.
Two people in the the SUV sustained minor injuries.
Charges are pending further investigation.
