NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - A child was found wandering down the road in North Fort Myers over the weekend, wearing a dirty diaper and covered in bug bites.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office says a woman spotted the boy, who is between 1 and 2 years old, walking eastbound on Gish Lane in North Fort Myers.
The woman says the boy was unable to communicate with her where he lived, so she called police who canvassed the neighborhood and found his home. Deputies say the person inside the home had no idea the child was gone.
The boy was taken to the hospital to be checked out. DCF is investigating.
