FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Florida Repertory Theatre's Conservatory Program is designed to challenge and train aspiring young actors.

“We are here to provide that actor training, but it becomes way more than that, it’s about ensemble building, we teach leadership and commitment, Newsies is about youth unity," said Kody C. Jones, Director of Education, Florida Rep Theatre.

This year there are 17 graduating seniors going on to theatre programs across the country. This is one of the only programs of its kind in Florida. And the students who are a part of this program has a deep passion for acting

“Play different roles and access different parts of my personality and be more expressive, because as a person, I’m pretty shy, but on the stage I can let loose and be anyone I want to be,” said Alyssa Mehrberg, Senior, Fort Myers High School.

The Conservatory is putting on the show Newsies and the actors hope it inspires you.

“I hope that they see people who don’t always have their voice being heard standing up for what’s right and what they believe in and I hope it invokes people to have that same need,” said Jesse Massari, Cypress Lake High School Center for the Arts.

Opening night is Friday, May 10. For ticket information click here.
