COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- A Chokoloskee teenager was arrested Wednesday after admitting he had left a rifle in his vehicle while at a Marco Island school.

The 17-year-old was charged with Possessing a Firearm on School Property and taken to the juvenile detention center.

According to Marco Island Police, school personnel at Marco Island Academy notified the School Resource Officer that students were discussing a gun on campus. The teen was questioned and admitted to investigators that he had left a rifle in his vehicle after hunting and had not removed it.

The unloaded rifle was recovered from the teen's vehicle by police.
