Synchronized skating competition comes to Estero

Posted

More than 2,000 synchronized skaters compete at the Germain Arena until Saturday, January 20th, in hopes of qualifying for the 2018 U.S. Championships for Synchronized Skating.

"It's definitely nerveracking," said Rebecca Crawley, who's a senior on the Chevy Chase Open Juvenile Team from Maryland.

She says she's been on the team since the 7th grade, and now it's her senior year and final year competing with her best friends.

"We really want to qualify and really just do our best skate yet and make sure we all, like honestly it's really cheesy, but have a good time," Crawley said.

This is the first year the competition is being held in Florida, let alone Lee County. It includes age groups from eight to 50-years-old. The competition ends this Saturday night.
