CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- We all have something we cherish, and when it’s taken from us, it’s heartbreaking. Well, a homeless man who paints for a living says one of his pieces he priced at $1,200 was stolen near a storage shed he paints in.

Daniel Brauer, who's been painting for years has an impressive collection. From artwork like sports teams to Elvis Presley, The Beetles, and Audrey Hepburn. He says he loves what he does to make ends meet.

But recently he says a piece he calls "Mama" was stolen. "I lowered the door down about halfway, and my paintings were out there drying, I got up to stretch my legs, and one of them was missing, my mom painting," he Brauer said.

Brauer lives in the back of a trailer near the shed his paintings were stolen, and he explains these paintings are his way of life, how he pays for storage rent. He say's "Mama" is a painting he planned to sell for $1,200.

"Something that I have 60 hours in it disappears, it’s gone, vanished. I have a problem with thieves I think that’s a despicable thing to do," he said.

Brauer says he filed a police report and hopes someone returns it, but until then, he says he's staying positive.

"I’ve been up and down and over and out, but I know one thing, each time I find myself flat on my face, I pull myself and get back in that race that’s life, I love it," Brauer said.

If anyone has any information or has seen the painting, please don’t hesitate to call the Cape Coral Police Department.
