NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Hostage negotiators and a SWAT team responded to a North Fort Myers home Friday morning after deputies say a man held a small child hostage in a home.

It happened around 5 a.m. at a home in the area of Euclid Avenue.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office ,Christoper Watson was in a verbal argument with another resident, which led to barricade himself in the home with a 9-month-old boy.

During negotiations with authorities, the man reportedly threatened to harm himself and the child.

The sheriff's office decided to perform a tactical breach, in which the child was safely removed from the home, and appeared to be well.

The man was taken into custody.
