Susan G. Komen grants almost $200,000 to local non-profits for breast cancer patient resources

Susan G. Komen grants out $189,107 to local non-profit organizations which will fund breast cancer screenings, treatments and support services to uninsured or underinsured patients.

Underinsured residents of Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Glades and Hendry counties will benefit from the awarded grants until May of 2019.

The local non-profits include Virginia B. Andes Volunteer Community Clinic, awarded $24,993, Partners for Breast Cancer Inc., awarded $40,000, Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida, awarded $39,254, Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida, awarded $39,860, Regional Cancer Center/Lee Memorial Health System, awarded $40,000 and finally, Cancer Alliance of Naples Inc., awarded $5,000.

Each of these organizations requested funding from Susan G. Komen Southwest Florida and qualified per Komen's grant guidelines.
