Cypress Lake High student arrested for bringing firearm to school

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies have arrested a student for bringing a firearm into Cypress Lake High School.

Lee County Sheriff's Office received the complaint on Friday, February 8. Deputies and detectives with the Youth Services Division learned that a 16-year-old was carrying the gun in his backpack.

Detectives charged the teen with disturbing the peace and possession of a firearm while on school property.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated, “My top priority is the safety of students and our school campuses. Make no mistake, we have zero tolerance and will arrest anyone who brings a weapon to school or threatens our children”.
