FORT MYERS, Fla. — A portion of I75 in Fort Myers will officially be dedicated to fallen Florida Highway Patrol Lieutenant, Daniel Hinton.

In May, Lee County Commissioners approved the stretch between mile markers 130 and 133 to be renamed Lieutenant Daniel Hinton Memorial Highway.

Hinton was a trooper with FHP for 32 years.

Hinton suffered a deadly heart attack during a training exercise in February.

The Florida Department of Transportation will place markers along the stretch of roadway.

A ceremony will be held next Thursday morning at the FHP office on Daniels Parkway.
