FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Fort Myers Police responded to a call for a possible abduction attempt Thursday after a man reportedly approached children in a back yard.

It happened in the 2100 block of South Street on Thursday at about 4:30 p.m.

Fort Myers Police say a man parked an older model maroon Economy Van in the grass next to a house, then walked towards the children in the back yard.

The children's father saw the man through a window in the house and told him to leave. The man returned to his van and quickly drove towards Cleveland Avenue.

The suspect is described as possibly Hispanic or biracial, about six feet tall, 250 pounds with a goatee.

Parents are urged to report any suspicious persons to the Fort Myers Police Department at (239) 321-7700.
