LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- The State Attorney’s Office filed charges on Tuesday against 19-year-old Logan Hetherington for the death of an 8-year-old girl in Cape Coral in March.

Hetherington is charged with one count each of;
-Leaving the Scene of a Crash – Death, First Degree Felony
-Vehicular Homicide, Second Degree Felony
-Possession of Marijuana (Not more than 20 grams), First Degree Misdemeanor
-Possession of Paraphernalia, First Degree Misdemeanor

Hetherington was arrested May 23 and released on bond the next day.

He is accused of running over 8-year-old Layla Aiken with his truck in the early morning hours of March 25th while she waited at her school bus stop.

Reports claim Hetherington did not stop after hitting Layla and continued to work that morning and made no attempt to contact law enforcement.
