GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla. -- Deputies in Collier County are tipping their hat to an unknown citizen who was looking out for their fellow drivers.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office shared a photo on social media Wednesday of a handmade sign that neutralized their speed enforcement operation.

Deputies on duty in Golden Gate Estates became suspicious after noticing that all vehicles but one passing by were closely observing the speed limit. On their way out of the area, they spotted a handmade sign warning "police ahead" about a quarter mile from the operation.

"Well played, anonymous sign artist, well played," they wrote online.
