NAPLES, Fla. — Collier County deputies arrested a 24-year-old Naples man for attacking his former friend on Saturday.

Deputies said the victim and a witness were invited to David Mazzarella's house on Sperling Avenue by his father to reconcile a relationship between David and the victim.

Authorities said an altercation ensued between the victim and David that was violent and involved a deadly weapon.

Deputies said the victim got in a car after David attacked him multiple times.

While the victim was in the car, deputies said David ran into the house and came out with a knife.

Deputies said David pried open the driver door with the knife and continued to attack the victim by holding the knife against the victim's throat, stating he would stab him in the neck.

Deputies arrested David Mazzarella and charged him with felony battery and aggravated assault without intent to kill.
