NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Deputies are investigating a sexual assault that happened at a North Fort Myers hurricane relief shelter, Thursday.
A report states the victim was approached and grabbed in the crotch area. Both people were juveniles and showering at the time of the incident. People staying at the shelter tell 4 In Your Corner the showers are separated by stalls.
The American Red Cross, which runs the shelter, sent Fox 4 the following statement:
"Our first priority is the safety and well-being of those residing in our shelters. The Red Cross works closely with law enforcement officials to ensure the safety of all residents in Red Cross shelters, and we do not tolerate any form of crime in our shelters."
