UPDATE (11/16/20) -

Cape Coral Police say speed and alcohol were factors in the serious crash that impacted the intersection of Eldorado Parkway and Coronado Parkway on Sunday.

Police say one man was trauma-alerted to a nearby hospital.

Investigators say a 28-year-old Cape Coral man in a Nissan Sentra traveling south on Coronado Parkway and approaching El Dorado Parkway East at a high rate of speed.

They say a 45-year-old Cape Coral man was in an Audi SUV stopped at El Dorado Parkway East and Coronado Parkway and facing East.

The driver of the Audi started turning left off El Dorado Parkway East so he could travel North on Coronado Parkway, police say.

They say the driver of the Nissan Sentra drove through the stop sign and hit the driver side of the Audi SUV.

Police say the driver of the Nissan Sentra never slowed down, and both vehicles spun counterclockwise.

The two vehicles detached from each other and stopped south of the intersection.

The driver of the Audi SUV was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Nissan Sentra was trauma alerted to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
