**UPDATE (11AM)** -- Troopers say two people were hit by a semi truck as they were standing near a pulled over pickup truck on the shoulder.  One woman died at the scene.

**UPDATE (8:25AM)** -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office says all northbound lanes of Interstate 75 have reopened.

It may still take some time for the several-mile long backup to clear out, however.

Still no details on the crash victim.

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. -- Drivers on Interstate 75 heading north towards Sarasota Tuesday morning are being warned about a backup in the Venice area.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office reports a fatality at the scene.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. at the Jacaranda Boulevard exit at mile marker 193.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, all northbound lanes are blocked at the overpass.  Traffic is being routed off at Jacaranda and back on via the on-ramp.

As of 6:30 a.m., the Fox 4 Traffic page was showing a several mile backup in the area, beyond the River Road exit (#191).
