School and business openings in Southwest Florida announced as Hurricane Dorian begins to head north

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- With Hurricane Dorian beginning to head to the north before making landfall in Florida, things are looking better in Southwest Florida.

The following openings have been announced:

The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island announced Tuesday that they have re-opened after being closed since Saturday.

All Florida SouthWestern State College campuses and centers, including FSW Collegiate High Schools Lee and Charlotte, will be open Wednesday.

Florida Gulf Coast University will also resume normal operations on Wednesday.

Glades County announced Tuesday that they will be shutting down the general population shelter, and schools will be open on Wednesday.

Hendry County and Collier County schools will also re-open on Wednesday.

Schools in Lee and Charlotte counties resumed classes on Tuesday.
