PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- Police are warning the public of a possible scam in which potential victims get emails that appear to be from their place of worship.
According to Punta Gorda Police, there have been multiple reports of emails requesting funds in the form of gift cards.
Police say that if you receive a suspicious email or call claiming to be from your place of worship, please contact them directly to confirm their identity and the legitimacy of the call or email.
