SARASOTA, Fla. — Sarasota Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred Saturday morning.
The crash happened at the intersection of Siesta Drive and Higel Avenue. The intersection was closed from approximately 12 a.m. until 5 a.m, according to police.
Around midnight, a motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Higel Avenue and lost control of the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was then struck by another vehicle that was traveling southbound, according to police.
The motorcyclist succumbed from injuries at the scene. The next of kin to the motorcyclist has not been notified.
Police said it is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
