SANIBEL, Fla. -- Biking while texting could become illegal in Sanibel.
Tuesday, the Sanibel City Council will discuss a proposal that would ban people from using their phones while riding bikes on a shared-use path.
The proposal is in response to a recent crash caused by a biker who was on his phone at the time.
If approved, violators could face fines.
Other parts of the country have passed similar ordinances.
