LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Drivers on the Sanibel Causeway may notice work crews doing bridge inspections beginning this week.
According to Lee County Government, a consultant began performing planned bridge inspections on the three bridges on May 6, 2109.
No lane closures are anticipated, but drivers may have to navigate slight lane shifts or minor traffic disruptions between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.
The work is expected to be completed by summer.
The purpose of the inspection is to check the status of the repairs made to selected cracks, as well as to evaluate the performance of the different materials that were used in those repairs. Additionally, workers will monitor cracks identified in prior inspection reports.
