NAPLES, Fla. -- The holidays can we tough for families who can’t afford to give their kids the gifts they’ve been asking for all year so the Salvation Army in Collier County is lending a helping hand.
Every year, they help 2,000 families in need which is roughly 6,000 children.
They operate a program that makes sure there are gifts underneath the tree Christmas morning for kids.
It's called the Salvation Army Christmas Cheer program.
The Salvation Army in Naples provides toys to kids 12 years old and younger.
To make it all possible, they partner with the annual Marine Corps 'Toys for Tots' campaign.
Every year, businesses, schools, churches and organizations donate toys.
If you want to help, you can drop off gifts at any Salvation Army location in Collier.
They are in need of gifts for boys and girls ages 10 to 12.
The last day to donate gifts is Friday, Dec. 14th.
The goal is to help those less fortunate to have a more enjoyable holiday season.
The Salvation Army that not only helps kids, but also offers gifts and activities for senior citizens.
Plus, they provide a meal for families for Christmas day.

All families must fill out an application and go to the salvation army in Immokalee and Naples for registration.
When applying, the “head of the household” is asked to bring the following information:
· Picture id for head of household;
· Certified birth certificates for all children in the home, 0-12 years of age;
· Pant, shirt, dress, coat, and shoe sizes of all children;
· Proof of residency (utility bill, rent/lease receipt)
Eligibility for holiday assistance is based on family needs.
