BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — The City of Bonita announced that Riverside Park was the target of vandalism overnight.
Riverside Park is commonly used to host community events, and festivals were a location for peaceful protests without incident earlier in the week.
A graphic and offensive spray paint covering the bandshell was discovered in the morning.
“All lives matter, and everyone has their First Amendment rights and freedom of expression. However, when freedom of expression crosses the line into destruction of property, this activity becomes criminal,” said Mayor Simmons.
An investigation is underway.
The City says individuals found guilty will be prosecuted to the full extent.
