The sun finally came out after days of rain in Southwest Florida, but in some areas the water shows no signs of receding.
"I've been here since 2012, this is the worst I've ever seen it," said Wezinsky Voltaire, who lives at the Villages of Stoneybrook, just south of State Road 82.
The entrance into the condo is under almost a foot of water, forcing Voltaire and his neighbors to park their cars on higher ground.
"One of the neighbors claimed they've seen a dead fish over at the side, I've seen several tad poles, a school of little, little fishes, are swimming in the parking lot," said Voltaire.
While people try and work around the flooding, students in Lee County schools got an unexpected break from their routine.
"Yay! I get to play video games with Preston and Parker over there," said Joshua Grauer, who enjoyed spending the extra day off inside.
Traditional outdoor activities were off the table, even if it was sunny out Monday.
"It's been bad, it's been raining a lot yesterday," said Preston Ellis.
For parents keeping their kids inside and away from flood waters is becoming is a matter of safety.
"I'm afraid of the bacteria that will start to develop here, especially because we had animals in the water," said Voltaire.
The community across Gateway boulevard, Stoneybrook also experienced severe flooding from this weekend's storms.
