Sheriff: No threat found in report of active shooter at Chico's FAS headquarters

UPDATE (12:30PM) -- Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno held a press conference updating the situation at Chico's FAS Thursday morning.

He says a security guard called LCSO shortly after 11 a.m. reporting an active shooter at the scene and then hung up.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene and began checking the entire property, which contains multiple buildings.

They have not located a threat and report that everybody is safe. There have been no injuries.

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- We are learning of multiple reports of an emergency lockdown at the Chico's FAS headquarters in Fort Myers Thursday morning.

Early reports referred to the situation as a possible active shooter situation. No actual shooter has been identified at this point.

Fox 4 learned from multiple employees inside that they were locked in closets.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office is setting up a command center at the scene and are reportedly sweeping the buildings on campus.

The large Chico's FAS campus is headquarters of women's clothing brands Chico's, White House Black Market, and Soma. It is located on Metro Parkway near Page Field.

Chico's FAS issued the following statement on the situation:

"Earlier today, Chico’s FAS security personnel received an anonymous call regarding the threat of an active shooter in the area around its corporate headquarters facility in Fort Myers.

"The security and safety of our employees is of paramount importance to Chico’s FAS. Local law enforcement and other emergency personnel were immediately notified, and are presently on site. As a precaution, and consistent with existing security protocols and policies, all employees were notified of the situation in real-time. A lockdown of all facilities has been initiated, and employees at the site have been instructed by local law enforcement to shelter in place at a secure location.

"No actual shooter has been identified, and the Company is currently unaware of any injuries.

"Chico’s FAS is working closely with local authorities to provide all information to ensure the corporate facilities are secure, investigate the threat and monitor the situation. "
