DeSOTO COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies in Arcadia say a report of a man with a firearm at Walmart turned out to be false, but give credit to those that spoke up about a possibly dangerous situation.
It happened around 9am Sunday at the Walmart in Arcadia, when a 911 call reported a male suspect with a firearm.
Deputies responded in just two minutes, and located the person of interest. The man was cooperative and no firearms or ammunition were found on the man.
"This is a perfect example of if you 'See Something, Say Something'!" the sheriff's office wrote on their Facebook page. "Although this incident was a misidentification of a potential weapon, it did prove our agency was ready to handle a call of this nature and we thank our citizens for being helpful."
