Red tide found in water samples from Southwest Florida

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has confirmed red tide was found in water samples from Southwest Florida.

The organism was found to be present at varying levels in Sarasota County, Charlotte County, Lee County and Collier County.

Respiratory irritation suspected to be caused by red tide was reported in Sarasota County.

There are no reports of fish kills related to red tide at this time.
