Red Sox player isolated after concerns of Coronavirus

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Boston Red Sox player who recently arrived from Taiwan has been asked not to come to JetBlue Park at Fenway South out of an overabundance of caution with news of the Coronavirus.

A spokesperson says Liu has not been sick nor has had any symptoms.

Red Sox medical staff has monitored his condition the whole time.

He is and has been healthy. He has been able to do light running and exercise on his own outside of his hotel says the spokesperson.

The Red Sox say 20-year-old Chih-Jung Liu has not been quarantined.

The team spokesperson told Fox 4 Liu will be returning Friday and he is still in place to take his physical with the rest of our minor league players on Saturday.

The Red Sox spring training is underway at JetBlue Park at Fenway South. Their next game is on February 27th against the Phillies.
