FORT MYERS, FLA. JULY 18, 2020 —This afternoon, local American Red Cross volunteers from the Florida Gulf Coast to Heartland Chapter virtually responded to an apartment fire on Desoto Avenue in Fort Myers, Fla.

Local Red Cross volunteer members of the Disaster Action Team helped coordinate emergency aid to those affected. Fire officials say two (2) people were impacted by the blaze, including one (1) child.

The Red Cross provided comfort kits, direct client assistance and recovery planning to the family to meet their disaster-caused needs.

Red Cross Volunteers have been trained to follow proper safety procedures and protocols to continue serving communities impacted by local disasters, during the coronavirus outbreak.
