LEE COUNTY, Fla.-- The Red Cross is launching its "Holiday for Heroes" campaign. Every year the organization sends stocking full of goodies and cards to veterans and service members.
You can support the campaign by donating:
- Power bars
- Drinks and hot cocoa mix (individual packets)
- Gum, mints, hard candy (no chocolate)
- Individually packaged/travel size snacks (nuts, trail mix, beef jerky, crackers, cookies)
- Non-perishable meat (individual packets of tuna, chicken, salmon; not canned)
- Lip balm
- Small packs of baby wipes
- Small puzzle books, playing cards, yo-yo's, hacky sacks
- Cards and letters of appreciation
If sending a card, please do not include your last name or address. Please make then holiday- centric and do not mention race or religion.
Donations have to be dropped off by Wednesday, November 6th.
