Recreation Center reopens in Fort Myers

Posted

FORT MYERS, Fla. --- The North Fort Myers Recreation Center will reopen on Thursday.

The center served as a shelter during Hurricane Irma for evacuees and closed on Friday to prepare for reopening.

County workers and the center staff have worked hard to restore the center in order to resume its regular activities.

The North Fort Myers Recreation Center is one of more than 120 parks in Lee County that have reopened since Irma.

Forty-three centers remain closed due to downed trees, standing water and blocked pathways.
