CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Punta Gorda family is mourning the death of an 18-year-old in a car crash over the weekend.
He died in a crash that happened early Sunday morning in Sarasota County on an entrance ramp to Interstate 75.
Florida Highway Patrol says 28-year-old Yusuf Memon was driving a car northbound on S.R. 681 at 3:18 a.m. on the on-ramp to I-75. That’s where he lost control of the car, which slid across a ditch and hit a tree.
A passenger in the car, 18-year-old Muhammed Memon, was killed. Investigators say he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Yusuf Memom went to the hospital with serious injuries.
