CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Port Charlotte man is facing multiple child porn charges after being accused of uploading obscene images to Twitter.

35-year-old Jason Poirier was booked into the Charlotte County Jail on Friday, charged with 10 counts of Distribution of Child Pornography. He was released on $10,000 bond Saturday.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, back on August 15th, a detective assigned as a Task Force Officer with the FBI ‘s Task Force Internet Crimes Against Children, received a tip of a Twitter account whose subscriber was uploading images of child pornography. The account screen name and g-mail address along with a phone number was also identified.

A Facebook account was also associated with the telephone number. Twitter was able to provide Detective Woelke two images that were later reviewed and identified as child pornography.

The detective and other FBI Task Force members responded to his home to further their investigation. Once a preliminary investigation was conducted, a state search warrant was applied for and granted.

As a result of seizing and examining several laptops, desktops and storage devices owned by Poirier, additional child pornographic images were observed.
